Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. These traits were natural for a child born in Ireland, surrounded by gifted parents and a loving family. Maureen was welcomed into this cherished haven within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th, 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin company, and also owned shares in the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer club. Maureen FitzSimons' is the 2nd FitzSimons child. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen was a fan of rough sports as young and became very good at it. This passion was combined with an equally natural aptitude of performing. The fact that she was awarded nearly all Feis Awards for her home country's drama and theatre performances was a testament to this. In her 14th year she joined at the Abbey Theater to follow her aspirations and pursue studies in classical theatre and operatic vocals.
